Repair My Stuff and WEEE Ireland Partner Up Again to Support Repair and Reuse Across Ireland

Repair and Reuse Ireland

Repair My Stuff is delighted to announce the continuation of our partnership with WEEE Ireland, reinforcing our shared commitment to promoting repair, reuse and sustainability throughout Ireland.

As Ireland continues to transition towards a circular economy, extending the lifespan of electrical and electronic products has never been more important. Repairing these products and keeping them in use for longer aligns closely with the objectives of Ireland’s Whole of Government Circular Economy Strategy 2026-2028, which encourages waste prevention, resource efficiency and keeping valuable materials in circulation for as long as possible. By choosing repair over replacement, consumers can help reduce waste, conserve resources and lower the environmental impact associated with discarded electronics.

WEEE Ireland has long played a leading role in the responsible collection, recycling and recovery of WEEE and batteries across Ireland. Representing more than 2,000 Members in the Irish WEEE and battery sector, WEEE Ireland is also committed to supporting circular economy initiatives higher up the waste hierarchy through its Circular Economy Strategy 2025–2027. This strategy places a strong emphasis on repair, reuse, and public engagement, helping to move Ireland’s transition to a resource-efficient economy. You can learn more about WEEE Ireland’s circular economy activities on the Close the E-Loop website.

Through our renewed partnership, we aim to further raise awareness of the benefits of repair and make it easier for consumers to connect with qualified repair professionals nationwide. Repairing an item often costs significantly less than replacing it, while also helping to reduce unnecessary waste. Whether it’s a washing machine, dishwasher, television, laptop or small household appliance, choosing repair can make a real difference for both household budgets and the environment.

As more households look for practical ways to reduce waste and save money, repair continues to be one of the simplest and most effective choices available. By helping consumers access trusted repair services, Repair My Stuff and WEEE Ireland are making it easier for people to give their electrical items a second life instead of sending them for recycling or replacement before it is necessary. The demand for repair is set to grow with the introduction of the EU Right to Repair Directive from July 31, 2026, making it easier for Irish consumers to access repair services and choose repair over replacement, helping to save money and reduce waste.

Through the Repair My Stuff directory, consumers can quickly find trusted repair specialists in their area, helping to keep products in circulation and reducing the number of items unnecessarily entering the waste stream. Keep an eye out for the Authorised Repair Agent badge on the Repair My Stuff website, which helps consumers to identify authorised industry repair partners for electronics and electrical products. This initiative is supported through WEEE Ireland’s close collaboration with the White Goods Association (WGA) at Ibec, making it easier for consumers to access high-quality White Goods repair services across Ireland.

WEEE Ireland also works closely with wider industry stakeholders to better understand and strengthen repair activity nationwide. In its 2022 repair data project, an impressive 95% of repair requests were successfully fulfilled, demonstrating both the availability and effectiveness of repair services across the island. These encouraging results highlight the significant role repair can play in extending product lifespans and supporting Ireland’s broader circular economy ambitions.

Together, Repair My Stuff and WEEE Ireland remain committed to supporting a culture of repair, reuse and responsible consumption, helping households and businesses across Ireland make more sustainable choices every day.

We look forward to continuing our work with WEEE Ireland and encouraging even more people to choose repair first.
